Red Alert 3: Uprising - Starring Ric Flair
The expansion pack to Red Alert 3 is due in March. What can we expect?
1. New units for each faction (details later)
2. 4 New campaigns, one for each faction, and an extra Yuriko Omega campaign.
3. New Commander's challenge, similar to the one present in Generals: Zero Hour.
4. This is purely single-player, not sure on the details, but perhaps the new additions will not be active in multiplayer.
5. Ric Flair.
Trailer link HERE
As seen in the campaign, Ric Flair, WWE ex-wrestler, will star as a commander in the game, along with his trademark "Woooooo!!!"
New units known so far:
Allies
1. Harbinger Bomber - assault gunship (think an AC-130 Spectre or Spooky)
2. Cryo-Legionnaire - Basically Zone Troopers(from C&C3) with freeze guns. Basic attack has a spraying effect rather than single targeting.
3. Unknown multipurpose gunnery platform - appears to have a heavy siege gun that forces it to remain stationary. Otherwise it hovers and acts like a rapidfire anti-infantry platform
Soviets
1. Desolator Trooper - heavy infantry ala tesla trooper, seems designed to counter manspam
2. Grinder Tank - surprisingly fast and equipped with heavy front-grinder. Possible magnetic harpoon application but doubtful.
3. Heavy Sickle - unknown name, but equipped with additional armor and multishot rocket pods. Appears to be able to attack air.
Empire
1. Archer - seems to be early anti-air infantry as mentioned
2. Giga Fortress - Heavy naval/air fortress. Shaped like a Psionic Decimator with cannon turrets while in naval mode, turns into a giant floating demon head (yes you read that right) in air fortress mode. Appears to have a death-ray like attack.
3. Steel Ronin - appears to be approximate in size to a King Oni but focused on close combat rather than ranged combat. Has a long Naginata.
That's all I know so far :P

new DotA item idea - the LifeScythe

*** The LifeScythe***
#1. History
The Necrolyte Rotund'jere had a necromancer wizard brother, Robust'jeh, who delved deeply into the secrets of life and death. On one of Robust'jeh's journeys through Azeroth, he discovered a scythe made of a living metal. Experiments on the scythe showed that it could slowly corrupt the soul of any living thing, reducing the scythed unit's lifespan. Robust'jeh christened his discovery the LifeScythe. Ironically, he was slewed with the LifeScythe in a scuffle in a tavern near the Pandaren homeland.
#2. Stats
Grants Soulbreak [attacked unit's max hp is reduced by 5% of its current max hp on every attack. effect wears off after 12 seconds]
+20 Agi
+5 Str
+5 Int
#3. Items required
Blade of Alacrity x 1 1000
Wraith Band x 1 460
LifeScythe recipe x 1 2000
------
Total cost: 3460
------
#4. Synergy
Useful for dps heroes. Enemies will be wondering, "Hey, where did my long hp go to?"
Especially good against tanks to cut their hp fast.

basic review of L4D
-For a much better, much more complete review, wait for Jie Han's one-
Most of my games are introduced to me by my friends. So was this one.
And I usually start playing new games in multiplayer mode. Same with this one.
Which is good, since the single player campaign is similar to the multiplayer games.
Developed by Valve, L4D basically has the same gameplay and controls as CS. Which is good for most CS players, and helps a lot with newbie players.
Good features of the game:
#1. Interesting storyline.
>>>4 survivors, all trying their best to kill as many zombies as possible en route to the next safe house.
#2. Teamwork is important.
>>>Unlike other games like COD or Halo, this game emphasises teamwork. You can heal teammates, and gain extra points for protecting them. COD WW tries to do the same, but it seems to me that L4D shines brighter at this element.
#3. Fun moments.
>>>Try throwing a pipe bomb over the edge of any tall building, say in the chapter No Mercy - Rooftop Finale. All the zombies will follow the pipe bomb like lemmings off the cliff.
Poor aspects of the game:
#1. Restricted weapon choice.
>>>From the makers of Half Life, Half Life 2. But only 5 guns available. A shotgun, a submachine gun, an assault rifle, a hunting rifle and a pistol. Crap, so few guns. A gun nut like me is a bit disappointed with the limited weapons choices.
#2. No melee weapons.
>>>Remember the crowbar from Half Life? Or the knife from CS? Or fists from Crysis? L4D plays like Halo, where ranged weapons can be used as melee weapons, by using the gunbutts as the melee portion. Suggestions: Maybe a bayonet would be nice. Or a simple hunting knife. We don't really need an energy sword.
#3. AI is reactive rather than proactive.
>>>You have to keep reminding the AI to move forward. Or to cover your advance. Most of the time, you have to clear half the room before you can move into the room. Which leads me to the next grouse on my list.
#4. Enemy AI is unaware that you're shooting at them. Especially the common Infected. But it doesn't really matter.
All in all, it's a good game. But the technical aspects need to be sorted out first. Such as the crashing when multicore rendering is enabled. I rate it 4 out of 5 stars.
